Interior design books are probably my favorite genre to read. I love reading people’s stories and how they got to the home they have now. I have never read a design book that was so gospel-minded. I couldn’t put the book down and was constantly talking and processing what I was reading. Kennesha breaks the book down into three parts starting on the inside and working her way out. Restoring our souls and then our spaces and then inviting people into them. Her constant weaving of the gospel into her words was such a breath of fresh air. She has reflections at the end of each chapter that has had me thinking and mulling over parts of my heart and home for weeks now. It has given me a shift in the focus of creating a beautiful home. Kennesha shares her story of releasing her struggles to the Lord. She opens each chapter and sprinkles throughout scripture. It struck me how relevant the verses were. She doesn’t use “christian phrase” verses but actual passages that speak to the topic she’s working through. Her topics were deep and inspiring, as is the content of the books. I have been working through making my home a beautiful and functional space, but also a gospel-focused home. Her words were practical and applicable and encouraging. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Jesus and wants a home that reflects that. The title sums it up beautifully: “creating a home that vies life and connection to all who enter.”
You can find Kennesha’s book at most major book chains or a local bookstore. Her website is restorationhouseblog.com and her Instagram account is @restorationhouse. If you’re on Spotify, she has several playlists depending on the mood. I recommend checking it all out!
